It's never too early to start this important conversation, right? Can you believe that this year women have officially had the right to vote (in Ontario) for exactly a century? What's even more astonishing, is that as late as the 1950s it was still widely considered to be completely inappropriate and shocking for a woman to have a career, or to travel the world - alone. We have certainly come a long way, but it's an important conversation to continue. My hope is that Mila never feels like she's at a disadvantage because she is female, and that instead, it makes her feel empowered.
My darling Mila,
I hope you always remember you are deeply loved, that you are valued, and that you are capable. I hope you always stand up for yourself and what you believe in, even when it's not cool. I hope you speak up when something's not right and listen when someone needs your help.
I hope you grow up being mindful, grateful, and brave; that you be the girl who just goes for it because girl, you know you can! I hope you go through life with a happy spirit and a positive, open mind + heart. I hope you are always good to yourself, others, and the earth.
I hope you always remember that when girls work together + are kind to each other, they are that much more powerful.
Happy International Day of the Girl.
Love Always,
Your Mama
